Bio
Katie Jo Olsen is a genre-blending singer/songwriter whose sound is as bold and heartfelt as the life behind it. Raised on a steady mix of Americana, outlaw country, blues, and classic rock, she came of age to the grit of ’90s grunge, punk rock, and feminist folk—all while moonlighting in musical theatre. Her music lives at the intersection of raw storytelling and classic style, fusing rootsy traditions with modern edge.
With a guitar in her hands and percussion at her feet, Katie Jo delivers dynamic performances that swing from soul-stirring ballads to foot-stomping anthems. Her voice—rich, powerful, and unflinchingly honest—carries the weight of a life lived wide open.
A former winner of the Why Sound Battle of the Singer/Songwriter, Katie Jo has shared the stage with Jerry Joseph and the Jackmormons, provided vocals for commercial campaigns like Lee's Marketplace, and lent her harmonies to countless fellow musicians. In addition to her solo work, she’s a core member of the Americana trio HilKat Johnson, where she sings and plays guitar, mandolin, and banjo.
Katie Jo writes songs for the survivors, the misfits, and the moonlighters—delivering truth in every lyric and grit in every groove.
